In May 2003, Marc Platt Productions and Universal Pictures optioned Charlie St. Cloud. They also hired Craig Pearce, a wonderful and inventive Australian screenwriter, to adapt the book. A frequent collaborator with Baz Luhrmann, Craig was the co-writer of Moulin Rouge, Romeo & Juliet, and Strictly Ballroom.

Officially, I’m an executive producer on the project, but the real work is being done by a smart and accomplished team: producers Marc Platt and Abby Wolf-Weiss and Universal Senior Vice President of Production Donna Langley.
