Marblehead, Massachusetts

The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud is set in the ancient and charming town of Marblehead, Massachusetts, just 19 miles north of Boston, and the self-proclaimed “birthplace of the American navy.”

It’s a very special place, with warm and welcoming locals, and it’s a perfect (and romantic) vacation destination in Summer and Fall. For information, visit the official website.

There are many wonderful inns and B&B’s in and around town, and I’m partial to three places. Let them know I sent you…

The Harbor Light Inn: Ask for Suzanne and Peter Conway.

The Seagull Inn: Ask for Ruth and Skip Sigler.

Spray Cliff on the Ocean: Ask for Sally and Roger Plauché.

Make sure to stop by The Spirit of ’76 Bookstore & Card Shop owned by Bob Hugo. It’s a great store with a very helpful staff.

If you’re looking for the news from town, take a look at The Marblehead Reporter.

You can also find articles about the town’s history and character in Marblehead Magazine.
